Description
New in R7. Free sugar intake as defined by the WHO in gram per day g/d. Data derived by study management using FETA v2.53 data output. Variable inclusion criteria: total sugar from fruit juice or table sugar or honey or syrups or sucrose and glucose added to foods. 0% of sugars in canned stewed and dried fruit 50% of total sugar in all processed foods e.g. Refined cereal baked beans 50% of sugar in tinned fruit in syrup as has double tinned fruit in own juice sugar content. Milk excluded but dairy products and milk based beverages included as total sugar - lactose. Variable was generated according to the WHO definition of free sugar but as the definition does not give adequate methodology for calculation of the variable post hoc from dietary assessment data published methodologies for non-milk extrinsic sugars were adapted.
