Dash accordance score
New for R7 with altered data in R8. The DASH accordance score represents the degree to which dietary intakes align with food and nutrient targets in the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH). This data is calculated by a script which uses data on 60 different food items (which in turn were calculated using FETA output 3 data on the FFQ data) as well as FreeSugarIntake - Sodium and Energy_kcal data. The score ranges from 8 to 40 units of adherence where 8 is the lowest possible adherence and 40 is complete adherence. Note: DASH accordance score is calculated using residuals and quintiles and is population specific. Therefore scores from previous releases become invalid when new participants are included.

New in R8. Energy (kcal) from food sources only. Beverages were defined as teas coffees -hot-chocolate - Horlicks - alcoholic beverages - fizzy drinks - fruit juice - fruit squash and milk. Foods included all foods including semi-solid foods like yoghurt and soups. The energy from sugar added to tea/coffee/cereal was considered as energy in beverages.

Free sugar intake
New in R7. Free sugar intake as defined by the WHO in gram per day g/d. Data derived by study management using FETA v2.53 data output. Variable inclusion criteria: total sugar from fruit juice or table sugar or honey or syrups or sucrose and glucose added to foods. 0% of sugars in canned stewed and dried fruit 50% of total sugar in all processed foods e.g. Refined cereal baked beans 50% of sugar in tinned fruit in syrup as has double tinned fruit in own juice sugar content. Milk excluded but dairy products and milk based beverages included as total sugar - lactose. Variable was generated according to the WHO definition of free sugar but as the definition does not give adequate methodology for calculation of the variable post hoc from dietary assessment data published methodologies for non-milk extrinsic sugars were adapted.

(precursor to FETA) results who shouldn't have (since CAF? Provided data on people even if they had > 10 missing ticks). For R6 and later this variable is not needed since FETA automatically ignores people with >10 missing ticks.
